My name’s Heather.

I’m a Humanist Celebrant based in beautiful East Lothian.

Before becoming a celebrant, I spent years as a professional writer, writing novels and bringing people together through literary events. Now, I’m delighted to be member of the Caledonian Humanist Association, which means I'm legally authorised to conduct weddings anywhere in Scotland.

I genuinely love hearing people's weird and wonderful stories.

Every couple has a story that's uniquely theirs, and one of my favourite parts of being a celebrant is helping uncover and tell it.

From the big milestones like the proposal story, to the tiny details of your lives together that make you smile, it's those moments that bring a ceremony to life.

I’ll be crafting your ceremony from my cosy home office in sunny East Lothian, where I live with my husband and our toddler, but I’m happy to travel all over Scotland to conduct ceremonies.

Together, we'll create something that feels completely authentic to you, celebrating your journey in a way that's meaningful, personal, and memorable.

Planning a Humanist ceremony

As a Caledonian Humanist Association celebrant, I'm fully trained, regulated, and insured, so you can feel confident that you're in safe hands.

We'll start by chatting about the kind of ceremony you'd like. Perhaps you want something simple or short, or maybe you’re keen to include Celtic customs such as handfasting or sharing a quaich. The choice is entirely yours. I'll take you through the process, help you choose any readings, music, or symbolic elements you'd like to include, and write a bespoke ceremony that reflects who you are as a couple.

I'll spend time getting to know you, listening to your story, and weaving together the memories, moments, and personalities that make your relationship special.

One of the joys of a Humanist wedding is the freedom it gives you to put your own stamp on the day. There are no set scripts or rules to follow, just a ceremony that feels right for you. I'll be there to guide you every step of the way, and together we'll create a ceremony that truly captures who you are.
